iranian people are normal people, they are hostages to the theocracy that is the islamic republic of iran. i've honestly never even met an iranian that went to mosque. they do consider themselves non practicing muslims as if to say culturally they are influenced by islam, but they don't pray or follow any of the rules. when you go to iran though there are definitely people who are practicing muslims. in fact the morality police is mostly made up of volunteers who do that shit for fun, whether because of the power it gives them or because they really do believe what others are doing is immoral, or both.
