270K is not living large these days if you have a detached house, multiple vehicles, and multiple kids with child care costs. It's comfortable, but it's not like you're eating dinners out all of the time or taking vacations with airplanes multiple times of the year.

2 kids certainly makes it harder especially when both are in daycare (and you're not in a $10/day one) and I suspect Evo is in that crunchy period that I also went through in the last couple years where the mortgage and daycare eat up nearly everything. That said, I find it a bit hard to reconcile "paycheque to paycheque" with buying an X5 a couple months ago - I'm not trying to be critical of Evo here, it's his call how to handle his finances and he's pointed out that he's not complaining about his situation but $270k is a LOT of money even in Vancouver.
