How many wireless devices do you currently have connected? Most modern wireless routers can support around at least 30-50 wireless devices without a hitch.

If you're okay with your current Shaw router's features, you can just extend your wireless network with some access points. Most mesh routers can be configured to run in just access point mode.

I use the TP-Link Deco X60 myself, but we use Ubiquiti access points at work.

Wireless mesh sucks. If you can't do a wired backhaul for your network, I wouldn't bother.

Even tri-band mesh routers with a dedicated wireless backhaul still suffers from bandwidth loss.
