But I would also add that the problem isn't just about my health and how I'd be able to keep up. In my case, le wifey is really not into this personal fitness / exercising stuff, and I'd dare say that because of that preference, her age is starting to catch up to her now.
It is frustrating that I've been continually encouraging her to keep up on this front, but she simply just doesn't have much interest to get down to it, even if she logically knows and acknowledges the need is there. Forcing / pressuring her to get into it is not a good option at all, because it'll just become a friction point between us, and then we'd get into fights.
The change in mindset and motivation needs to come from her or it won't work. Where is the fun in me travelling alone when I am 65, and she can't be out for long?

I have the same problem with my wife. I've been trying to get her to at least go out for walk in the afternoon but even that's challenging because we don't have afterschool care and my son comes home at 3:15pm and she can no longer get work done. It means she's trying to cram 7 hours of work (8hr workday minus lunch) into 6 hours or less and cannot separate out to do other things.
The silver lining is my son just got into snowboarding, and my wife wants to go with him. It means she needs to get her fitness level up to a certain point in order to not get hurt.
