Hobz, tackling your weight and bad tendencies should start now while you're still relatively young, as opposed to trying to "figure" it out in your 50s or later.

Losing weight becomes harder and harder as you get older, the body tends to hold and retain the fat storage it currently carries as it accumulates. Essentially the idea of being able to just go on a "cut" like you could in your 20s where you'd bulk up and get fat in the winter, and drop it all off by spring doesn't hold true that same way, or as easy.

There comes a point as you get older if you let your body run amok weight wise, you likely will never be able to lose it. It's like debt, it's easy to get out of it when it's small, but once you're in the hole those interest payments make it impossible to get out. Add to that back issues, knee problems (mobility stressors), blood cholesterol, diabetes, which all come into play at later ages, makes it even harder to have the physicality to lose that weight.

You're a big boy my guy, you should be careful, and not be so cavalier about it.
