Tesla lowered the bar for build quality, so I don’t think BYD's build quality would be much of a concern.
Also, BYD is already in Mexico. They were planning to build a massive factory but backed off so they wouldn't piss off Trump but I wonder if, with the tariffs in place, they’ll reconsider and move forward with the factory.
Another factor that could benefit us is having Mexico involved in a trade deal. However, the issue will always be our domestic manufacturers. Unless BYD invests in Canada and opens a factory, it’ll still be a tough sell.
