Recently a bright star beside moon but it was Venus. Apparently, at the end of the month, 7 planets will be visible in the sky, they all line up.

Earlier in the month, it was Venus and Saturn near the moon one night, It's usually been Jupiter and Mars lately.
Right now, the reddish 'star' to the right of the moon is Mars. In the SE you can see Jupiter, Venus is the bright pip in the west. Saturn's hard to see without a telescope/binoculars currently as the rings are edge-on to us.
