Kind of like hiring a CEO that's good at restructuring, or bankruptcy. Once you are out of that timeframe you mutually part ways and hire a day-to-day type of CEO to run the business.

not having to worry about reprocussions and dealing with lose lose dumpster fire scenarios can be quite liberating and leave you free to do what you need to do. had to do it once or twice in my career... being stressed and looking over your shoulder can make one very indecisive/unproductive
