The government doesn't have the option of making things cheaper. Unless they have the balls to cap CEO pay and bonuses, limit corporate profits and stock buybacks and force companies to give their workers pay proportionate to profits or pay the windfalls in taxes. It doesn't matter who's in office, that isn't happening. Corporate and lobbying power needed to be reeled in decades ago before it got this far.
I won't vote based on fiscal policy anymore because none of it means anything. Corporate overlords dictate that, so all we can hope for is decent social policy and programs necessary for a decent life like healthcare and education.
