A lot can be learned from working or volunteering from a non-profit.

I volunteer with a non-profit and it's given me a different perspective on how things work in that space, but also the benefit it provides to society. If anything, the experience has helped shaped my critical thinking positively. That process has helped me develop in my day-to-day role, so there's direct influence on how you approach situations and how to deal with people. While not glamorous, I've been nominated as a candidate to run for the board of directors this fall, so I'm excited to see how that goes.

If you enjoy that space, continue at it, but also carve out some paths towards other social enterprises or industry advocacies', but also for-profit enterprises as well. There are lots to choose from in Vancouver, so world is your oyster.
