I understand why people (ie. not just kids) no longer watch the news, and prefers to get them from their social media feed instead. What I don't understand is -- why would people consider social media / influencers etc. to be authoratative sources of information?
At best, it is no better than hearsay or gossip. At worse, when many of these sources (eg. Rebel News, Canada Proud) have been repeatedly caught / proven to relay fake news or otherwise incite hateful rhetoric, people should know better than to view these as reliable sources of information.
