I just get the cheapest CA/US plan as I cross often. And for anything outside, I buy an eSIM before I leave.

I upgraded to the Rogers variant of this plan because I'm in Asia for a few months and needed SMS MFA (unfortunately some services I need still have SMS authentication). Price is a bit steeper than my previous plan, but I enjoy not having to worry about sim swapping or paying $15 every time i need to receive 1 SMS.
