Not a gelato fan but for ice cream the best place is La Glace ( https://www.laglace.ca) - their toasted ice cream sandwich is fantastic and the flavours are unique but never weird. I rarely get to go since it's on the west side but if I'm even in spitting distance I'll make the effort cause it's fantastic.
