What did he say exactly?
Without looking at "the tape" I think the Lions controlled the game at both lines. "in the trenches" as they say. If Lamar wasn't Lamar this would have been a blowout
The key to beating the Lions is to force Goff to have to make plays out of structure, and you can't do it when they're busting off runs for 5-11 yards consistently, and then run trickem dickem plays at the goal line taking Goff out of the equation. And he can still make good timing plays in structure as we saw with the two Amon Ra passes
If the Ravens can't get their defense in shape, this season could get ugly. But these are the games that get them there. They're scoring 30-40 points per game the first 3 weeks, and lost 2 of them. That is just ridiculous
I also didn't like seeing Derrick Henry lose his mind after the fumble.. yes 3 fumbles in 3 games is absurd, but it was a great punch play by one of the best defensive players in the league. Seeing him throw his helmet around and falling down he looked like a toddler having a fit
Big annoying edit:
Since I got to read I think the point he was making
"Why have the Ravens been unable to win close games?"
I came across this "fun fact" This 8 point loss is the biggest loss Lamar has had since 2021, including playoffs. Yes there was a garbo time score, but that wouldn't have happened if Montgomery had gone down to kill the clock instead of scoring his TD (actually if Baltimore had recovered the onside kick, that TD could have been really really bad, and I doubt he makes that mistake again despite the outcome)
So anyway, I guess you could say the losses are all close games because the offense is good, and that makes it look like they lose more close games than other teams. Scoring 30 points in a game where the other team had two 95+ yard drives, how often does that happen? Most teams that let that happen are probably not going to be within 1 score by the end.
But still, game changing plays happen, like Henry's fumbles in both this and the Bills game (both great punch plays btw). They shouldn't have to rely on scoring 40 points a game to win. Defense needs to figure their shit out. And hang onto the ball Derrick!
