Lease costs are significantly lower and same with wages. Starting capital and risk of losing everything is way lower than Vancouver. Appliances, equipment, and repairs are gonna be way lower. Revenue will be lower too, but I'd take lower profits over risking $50-100K/month overhead any day.
Retail lease in Vancouver with some employees is over $50K/month. If sales slump, you're bleeding $300-500K a year on a small store
To be honest, I haven't spent more than a few hours researching costs in Japan or China. Nor do I know anyone running SMB's there. So I'm ready to be educated.
