I'm curious if you've been exposed to HK work culture, and to an extent, most of Asia.
People in HK start late, and they end late, and while they might be there for 10 - 11 hours, no one actually puts in that much work. I have plenty of friends in HK who said lots of people slack. We have a term in Cantonese (I can't type cause I don't know the first word) which loosely translates to kicking the ball around, but really means running out the clock. Very common in HK, and even more so in China.
