I used to retrofit PPCs onto every mech in MechCommander, especially because at the longer range, they would miss all their shots anyway.

I prefer engaging long range, get a few shots off before they get close, preferrably blow an arm off or make them limp
I'm also not a missile fan, I got ammo anxiety.
