As long as Aquilini owns the Canucks, I do not think that this franchise will undergo a full rebuild based on building a team through draft picks.
Here is why:
It is widely speculated that Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini wants to win a Stanley Cup to honor his aging father, Luigi Aquilini, before he passes away. This ambition is often cited as a driving force
behind the team's "win-now" decisions and reluctance to enter a full rebuild.
Francesco Aquilini has openly stated, "Winning a Stanley Cup is everything" and that owners should be "driven to win the Stanley Cup".
While he has never explicitly attributed this wish to his father in a formal statement, reports and sources close to the team have indicated that fulfilling his father's wish is a significant personal motivation.
Luigi Aquilini is in his early 80s now. Will Francesco ever allow Allvin and Rutherford to blow up team's core and do a full rebuild of this franchise?
How many years would it take for the Canucks be come legitimate championship contenders if the team does a full rebuild based on draft picks?
Aquaman really wants his Daddy to have a chance to to see the Canucks win a Stanley Cup. Luigi is OLD.
That is why I think Aquaman is a meddling owner who will not let management do a full rebuild. A re-tool on the fly with signing free agents and keeping our team core of Hughes, Petey, Boeser, Garland, and Demko.
Yeah, I am not fan of Aquilini if you have not found out now. What a joke to see that a billionaire who helped build his business empire partly from construction and real estate NOT spend money to build a practice facility for the Canucks.
