I agree that trading away assets that aren't going to be part of your rebuild for prospects will generally lead to lower win rate (and a higher draft pick) that is not like actually losing on purpose. It's not a stupid argument, it's loser shit for loser teams that will generate a loser culture for a loser fanbase.
Canucks had an awesome culture coming out of the covid era, it just didn't work out. When that happens you have to do a rebuild, which could mean a season with no expectation of making the playoffs. But don't lose on purpose, I'd want nothing to do with that.

No one's seriously expecting players to lose on purpose. No player would agree to lose on purpose. The league would come after the team with disciplinary action. People are simply venting at the situation and expressing how they WANT the team to lose. Because any long term fan has been through this cycle of mediocrity long enough to understand short term loss is necessary right now, for long term gain. That's all.
Winning games now mean nothing because all it does is remind us how the team will finish in middle of the pack again, just to rinse and repeat again next year with nothing to show for.
This team should be selling and rebuilding, if the byproduct is having half an AHL team (playing their hardest) on the ice, then so be it.
