340hp AWD for $52k to me is a bargain, and I like the idea of putting that kind of power in a tiny package.

Like a bunch of you guys on RS, I've had good times with my S2000. Over 17 years, I liked the challenge of stuffing all kinds of things into that car and getting away with it. Hauling stuff down the highway, through downtown traffic, things sticking way up through the open top: tall packages, giant stuffies, office chairs, you name it.

I've had the Mach-E as a rental twice, and in both times I had issues with the electronic door popper lagging / not responding.

Wasn't a fan of the low-speed throttle calibration. Felt jumpy.

Felt slow (AWD, but not GT/Rally). Back end rotates, but unpredictably so.

Fiddly UI. Felt a little distracting flipping around through menus to adjust things while I was driving.

I've had maybe 5 or 6 Ioniq5 rentals. Love the look of these from the outside, but I don't like the bubbly looking interior. The switchgear and general user interfacing has felt unintuitive, even despite using it a bunch of times.

I could've begrudgingly overlooked all that for the N, but you can't get one with a panoramic moonroof. I emailed Hyundai Canada with a plea: no reply lol.

Oh yeah, I'd much rather an R2 as a vehicle. I have a day-1 [refundable] deposit down on one as well.

I just don't know that it'd be the responsible thing to do. In my first year of ownership, I built a spreadsheet for the R1 tracking 30+ issues, 20 of them being repeats / new problems caused by attempted fixes of the original issues.

In the delivery room at the hospital, with our newborn baby next to me, I was on the phone with Rivian arguing that they should pay for the damage to my truck because the tow operator dented it in transit. (why did they have to tow in the first place? because of an amateur-hour 12V electrical architecture + a bug-ridden firmware update = bricked, that's why)

But they argued that it was a 3rd party so it's out of their hands wtf. And then they refused to discuss further, so then I had to go find them on LinkedIn to get ahold of them.

...still loved that truck: it was like magic when it worked. Still might wind up in an R2, because I've learned nothing
