The whole charging thing is meh. Given the rise of EV, there has been quite a bit of development on charging solutions. The biggest problem used to be that many houses don't have the needed amperage on their breaker box to support it and require a $$$ upgrade to hydro service. But that's no longer the case.
If one has enough amp, a NEMA 14-50 can be installed for a couple of hundred bucks assuming you stay within no more than 10fts of the breaker. Anything more than that, find another electrician. A charger that runs directly into the breaker box is a hundred or 2 more.
If you don't have enough amp, one could install a smart splitter to the dryer plug. Again, for a few hundred bucks.
If one is really GD hoader cheap, you can always just get 2 hot wires to do a 240v NEMA6-20P. The receptacle is less than $20 and it's DIY-able. This would still be more than 2x better than a regular 110v plug.
