Yeah, I find it crazy. I have a pal who plans to work till 58 (he's 50) to get his full pension from the feds but his primary reason to keep working is that he think he'll have nothing to do. His wife and him both have great pensions so there's no need to get a full pension in either case and his kids will be grown up soon. He could buy an RV and hang out in Mexico like his in-laws do or he could be fun empty nesters. So many options!

I get it if someone's been hard core working class where work is your life but time really flies - by age 75 most of the hobbies go away anyways as you don't have the energy so the earlier you can get into them the better.
