I thought about it for a bit
OPTION 1
For next 5 years
Total additional expense = $19,300 + maintenance
**Upgrade to model 3 performance
-Payment $16,994 ($706/month X 24 months)
-Insurance $2,280 ($406/yr X 5 years)
================================================
Everything else cost more, extreme examples below
================================================
OPTION 2
Total additional expense = $19,300 + maintenance
**buy a fun mantual for $8,000 (miata or otherwise)
- $8,000 miata after tax ($7100 + tax)
- $7,500 insurnace = $1,500 insurance per year X 5 years
- $3,800 left for gas for 5 years = $63 per month.. so 3/4 tank per month.. doable if its just a weekend crusier...
- $0 left for oil changes
================================================
OPTION 3
Total additional expense = $51,200
**lease a fun car for $500 a month after tax (can be 2 yrs of BRZ + 2 yrs of Miata or whatever, or 5 years same car or what have you) Its realistic if you pick the correct time window and not picky on color
- lease $30,000 ($500 a month X 60 months)
- insurnace $10,000 (lease minimal requirement $2,000 a year X 5 years)
- gas $11,200 (based on 8L/100km over a distance of 80,000 KM total = 16,000km per year X 5 years = 6,400L of gas total X $1.75 per L)
- absolte no maintenance since its a lease
================================================
OPTION 4
Stop being a cunt and start saving money for once... kids are getting old, stop spending every penny coming in....but I am a materialistic loser lolol... and yea I wanted smth fast...ish
================================================
Yes, option 2 and 3 will give me a 3rd vehicle in the fam fam, but I cant spilt myself into 2, I can only enjoy 1 vehicle at a time.
The only downside I see is that my model 3 performance will be worth $20K in 5 more years.. where as Option 2 might edge out in asset as the miata might still be $7,000 and the base tesla at $17,000? So I get $24,000 in total asset? Option 3 lease will mean I still still own that $17,000 tesla, but I have spent $50,000+ in leasing new cars
Yes, I absolutely agree the M3P will ge boring fast.. but 3.3 sec is plenty fast, considering my old car is 5.9 sec, at least right now it feels obsecenly fast
I think we already established I am stupid, but that was my thought process and hence why I choose to upgrading my model 3 instead of option 2 and 3.....kinda makes sense in my head??
