I know the Trump voter base follows no logic, but when their own jobs are on the line, and the future votability of the GOP is severely damaged, how can these GOP people not try to do anything to save their own a$$es?

As you mention, logically speaking, the GOP is on track to lose big in 6 months, but I've also come to realize that there is no logic to US politics... I bet there is a ton of sketchy shit happening to stack the votes in favour of the Republicans, while the Democrats don't seem to have a plan either.
