I got that as a treat!! My dad would be like hey, it's time for "leng yu fan" (fried dace rice)!! I got a half a piece of that fish to mash into my bowl of white rice.
My dad also used to make "dan tong" (egg soup): cracked an egg into a pot of water, salted it, and then doled that out into bowls. Heeeell yeah
