look at publicly traded chinese companies. there's been a lot of chatter from the owners/founders to take their companies private as the current market cap is not reflective of their true values.

The chinese companies I've seen where the owners/board say they're gonna take it private have said such things only after they ran into "accounting" issues, e.g. PUDA UPDATE 1-Puda Coal gets buy-out proposal from chairman | Reuters

If you use iPhone, try connecting with an US VPN. Whenever I connect to VPN on my iPhone, the apple stock app become "live quote" instead of delayed by 20min.

I did some comparison, it's no more than a few sec delay between iphone's feed (off yahoo I think) and the one from my brokers.

This stock is trading at .59/share, and has a lot of upward movement left in it.

Do some reading, IMO this company is a no brainer. There is virtually no risk of them going broke, they are sitting on a billion barrels of oil, have two SAGD plants running at about 70% (Good yield for this part of the world), a refinery making nothing but money, and various non core assets which are currently being sold to raise cash to clean up balance sheets.

There has also been very consistent inside buying...
CLL trading at .65/share, up another 10% today.

The last 5 trading days have taken me from .42 to .65, an increase of 55%.

CSR or China Security & Surveillance Tech. Inc. was taken private by the CEO at $6.50. It was trading around $4-5 for the longest time before it. There were investigations by shareholders saying the price undervalued the company etc. but the buyout still went through.

I would check out STV. China Digital TV Holdings. They have a huge cash balance. $3.50 of each share is cash and it's trading at $3.6x

if you look at the smaller market cap companies, you'll find many where the founder holds over 50% of the shares with a networth more than capable of taking the company private. They certainly did not need access to NA capital by going public, it was more for prestige and now it's killing their egos to see the share price/market cap low.

The Stock Market, Canadian Stock Exchange | TMX Group

Trading halted on CLL pending news (@ .65)... best part is I bought another 18500 shares this morning at .61

Hopefully it's buyout anouncement... with any luck between 4-6$ Per share...

CUU, CLL, SLI, one of a million small caps with a "similar" story.

There is various reasons for halt, possible purchase of company as a whole, JV, sale of Twinning property (non core asset), NEB approval of next expansion phase (sure bet on this one, probably multiple pieces of news in same released though).

At the end of the day, Connacher has had all the bad news already, there budget for 2012 was a joke, clearly laid out to keep share value down (37 million for maintenance?LOL) to allow more inside buying on the cheap.. people figured it out... and now the price is likely going way up. It's currently tradiing at half net value BEFORE 2P RESERVES... even if you buy this company now at 6$/share (roughly 3BL$) you will expect a return 30BL$ based on proven reserves.

No brainer IMO and thats why I am balls deep in this one.

GLTA. Though you never know what could happen... could lose it all lol.

Still a bit skeptical but I dropped a few $$$ as well at 0.91, not going to be a long hold for me though most likely

Yep my POT holdings are decimated too. Tempted to buy more at $40 but it is very concerning. I wonder if the competition from BHP is playing a part in the steady decline (not to mention recessionary risks)

Took profits on CLL selling at .90 but might buy in again tommorrow.

If Israel says "fuck it" and bombs Iran, I wonder how the stock market will react?
Besides fuel commodities shooting up.

Stolen from the boards, here is a pretty basic explanation on why I am holding a long position on CLL. It's not a matter of speculation, it's math and economics... predictions for tomorrow are another big volume day (10mil+) and a share price peaking at not less than $1.20...

Quote:
Whatever the buyout unless it is at least $3.50 the Exec's and BOD of this company should hang their heads in shame and appologise to shareholders for stringing us along all these years with platitudes of striving for shareholder value which is one hell of a joke. By their own numbers the after tax value including discounting the debt is 4.98.

Here is the value of what Connacher has: 10 October 2011of proven and probable oil reserves - $3.1 billion

Best estimate value of contingent - $570 million
Other assets - $140 million
Total assets - $3.8 billion
Less net debt - ($880 million) ( very recent sales not deducted)
Net asset value, pre-tax - $2.9 billion
Value On a Per Share Basis:

On a pre-tax, per-share basis, this equals $6.54 per share.

On an after-tax, per-share basis, this equals $4.98 per share.

Excluding the contingent resources, this equals $3.71 per share.
Scotia`s analyst, recent 1 yr target $1.60

Remember to book profits, always healthy to book profits. The buyout prices/posts are starting to sound CUU-ish.

Good pick on CLL. Gonna look into it more.. too bad I'm my money is in CUU right now.

POT's drop is also related to the drop in corn prices. all from the MF global bankruptcy
