What is with all this BMO love all of a sudden?
There's a reason why no other team gave him a contract, yes even non-depth teams like thrashers, leafs & panthers who have tons of wiggle room to accommodate his type of salary!
He had a marginal season last year with the Caps and on occasion was on a line with Ovechkin. Only to be relegated to the bench by trade deadline when they signed Belanger. Had absolutely no impact in the limited role with the Caps come playoffs.
Granted there have been a couple moments where I was slightly impressed with BMO's play in the pre-season, but for the most part he is only getting attention because he was a former Canuck and because he had a couple good seasons with the Canucks way back in 2003. The guy is 35 on a friggen tryout when he even said he wouldn't come into this season unless he had a guaranteed contract.
Morrison might crack the lineup but it will be the most detrimental move ever for a number of reasons. He's a small body for a 3rd & 4th line where he'll be playing once Burrows returns. He's likely gonna follow suit just like Salo which is the injury factor. Plus we have young players who are bigger with much higher upside and potential who would kill to play in the NHL. Desbiens, Perreult, Bolduc. While he does kill penalties, he won't fight or get into scrums which is a big part of the 3/4 line. If he couldn't quarter back the power play in washington what makes you think he'll do the same here. We got D men like Hamuis, Bieska, Ballard, Edler who'll do just fine on the PP.
This is just more of a feel good story than anything else with BMO.
I'm probably one of the few who don't want to see BMO play this season with the Canucks. Great personality but unfortunately his time is up
Desbiens, Perrault and Bolduc have hardly shown anything in the preseason. Morrison has shown he still has it and has played like he wants to stay here and I think he deserves it. Not because he was a former Canuck and fan favorite, but because he has shown his worth.
The depth we will have down the center will be ridiculous if he signs here, and if it's for league minimum - 750k then why not?

have you seen him play in the preseason? sometimes the little moves a player does on the ice is the real depth of a hockey team.
His stats might have dropped the past few years, but judging from 2 preseason games up close. He's still effective.
I hope he does well. Kesler improves the games of most players he plays with
I want to see Ballard lay some huge hits though
