The Vezina Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League's goaltender who is "adjudged to be the best at this position".[1] At the end of each season, the 30 General Managers of the teams in the National Hockey League vote to determine the goaltender who was the most valuable to his team during the regular season.

all this frustration is just a part of being a canucks fan. i'm sure they will pull it off but at the cost of a missed opportunity for rest and avoiding injuries.
the team needs to step up big time. that last game featured no hitting. during the 3 games they've won all the analysts talked about how much they were hitting and grabbed all the energy in the game.
not that games 4/5 are entirely his fault but i still have yet to see Luongo win a series/tournament on his own and prove himself worthy of being mentioned with the upper echelon of goalies. lu may have a gold medal but i haven't forgotten the parise goal like everyone else did just because sidney scored.
I don't even know what to say. A president's trophy team shitting the bed not once...but two...i just cannot comprehend. Sports are a funny thing though, and things can change with a hit, a save, a fight, a goal, hell even a moment at the roxy.
It starts with the players on the ice, but AV has to make adjustments. To say after game 4 that they need to make a few minor adjustments and have more gap control...and you see that result.
On a lighter note....this interview from dennis green is hilarious...i think it applies to the Canucks..."the hawks were who we thought they were...and we let them off the hook"
Like Ehrhoff said "I've won the presidents trophy with san jose, that doesn't mean we're going to win the cup." We all know in the past how big choke artists San Jose is.

Everyones shitting on Lu for us losing 4 and 5. 1,2,3 werent that long ago and everyone was saying he stole us those games, and how he finally showed up in the playoffs. If he didnt stand on his head making those toe saves and robbing Kane on every open net he had, we very well might have been swept.
Blame Lu all you want, but the whole team has been playing like shit in half of game 3, and all of 4 and 5.
You know what pissed me off more than anything? Watching the post-game comments when Lu stood there in the locker room and said that a loss is a loss in the playoffs, makes no difference if it's 5-0 or overtime loss.
FUCK THAT NOISE LU!!!!
Yah it makes absolutely no difference whether you lose 7-2 and 5-0 instead of 3-2 in OT??? How about psychologically you asshole?????
That guy is so cocky and arrogant... which is a whole lot different than being CONFIDENT... Luuuuuuu thinks his shit never stinks. I want to see him staring at the floor, unable to look a reporter in the eye and just saying grimly that he needs to play better... not sitting there with a "I don't give a fuck, I'm a gold medal winner" look on his face just assuming he can stop anything and if he doesn't it's because someone was screening/tipping/perfect shotting.
What do you want him to say?
"Yes they raped me in the asshole, and its all my fault"
I dont' see how he's being cocky. He's trying to stay positive so he doesn't lose confidence in himself, his teamates don't lose confidence in him and chicago knows they can't get to him.
"We have to expose the Canucks for what they really are" thats a bold statement for someone down 3-0...
It would be epic if someone like Kesler came out and said..."I guarentee we will win game 6"
That would be so against the fold and so against the teams mantra all season..but this sport is just as much mental as anything else...can the hawks be any more motivated....that would be awesome if someone guarenteed a victory.. not luongo though..lol..

The entire team has forgotten the basics of how to play hockey. Canucks couldn't break out of their own end with any speed to save their playoff lives. On penalty kills they often tried to break out instead of dumping it deep. They kept trying to do fancy moves or passes instead of just shooting the puck when they had opportunities. STOP TAKING FUCKING SLAPSHOTS, QUICK RELEASE!!! I think I saw a single one-timer on the power play. They let the Hawks dominate the neutral zone and skate right into the top of the circle and shoot on numerous occasions unchallenged. Absolutely brutal play, it was embarrassing to watch.
If the Canucks don't score first in Game 6 they'll be in serious trouble of losing the series.

Well, with the extra day between games, let's hope the flu bug that is going around the team gets taken care of.
I call biological warfare, LOL. Just before game 4 a few hotties hired by the Hawks went to the hotel where the Canucks were staying and gave a few players more than just a good time............

Pretty much! I don't think last night can really be blamed on Lu. Sure he let in 4 goals on 12 shots, but they were a combination of screens, breakaways and deflections. Defence should have been boxing out, forwards should have been covering their men but instead, everyone seemed to be floating.
The team in front is more so the problem, where they've look flat footed, are losing all the little battles, aren't playing their game down low and are basically relying on shots from the point that aren't really there. The Nucks really need to get back to the way they've played all season above all else.
As much as everyone always picks on bieksa (myself included) he's basically -the only- person fucking stepping it up and trying to get somthing going/bringing it to them, only player I've got any amount of respect for right now, at least he's trying to be a gamer Posted via RS Mobile
All I know is that we are up 3 games to 2. We need to win one of next two games. We can do it.
Thank you. Seems most people are almost conceding to the fact that they would be OK if they lost the series but put in an amazing effort. A loss is a loss and I'd be just as angry if they loss by 1 goal or 10. I'd be more annoyed after the fact if the games were close and they played well. The expectations this year was to at minimum go deep in the playoffs it doesn't matter how they advanced, whether they mopped the floor all the way there or in typical Canuck fashion make it difficult on themselves.
I'll save my diatribes if they completely melt down but last I remember we have 2 more chances to finish this series off and I don't care how they find a way to win as long as they do. It would certainly help if the no-shows, meaning the entire team would show up.
Win it for Manny!

It's a defining moment for the team this Sunday. Your best players need to play the best in the face of adversity. Coach AV needs to make the adjustments in the team's game to put the TKO on the Hawks.
Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, etc. from the top line to the fourth line plumbers need to play every shift with a sense of urgency and purpose. If they play game 6 like they did in games 1 and 3, the Hawks are cooked.
Bring the killer instinct to put a beatdown on these Hawks!

It's a team game.
I think this is why Lu gets a contingent of fan hate. It's like Lu is absolved of any responsibility and is shouldered to his teammates instead just because he's "Luongo"
It goes back to the days when the fans felt, the team (or city) had to prove to a goaltender their worth when Lu made that statement about waiting on his contract extension to "see if the team's good enough to far into the PO"
Someone on hfboards brought up the point that if AV tries Schneids for game 6 and they still lose, it still gives lu the chance to be a hero in game 7. If Lu lets 4+ goals in again game 6. Schneids is not an option for game 7.
