Driving last night to pick up my wife from work was a hilarious nightmare (not for me, for other people)
Was going on 41st and Knight (eastbound on 41st, right across from Duffins)
Semi truck stuck on hill, jacknifed up and blocked 2 lanes
Traffic flowed through the small streets, and further hilarity ensued
1st exit to turn up was an alley, cars got stuck
2nd exit to turn up was 43rd, BMW SUV was stuck
3rd exit 45th, people almost stuck
These snow tires are worth it's weight in gold almost

they are sounding really grim on the radio about wednesday afternoon/thursday morning. out of all the snow days we've gotten so far, tomorrow could potentially be the worst because of freezing rain

speaking about collapsing roof, is anyone worried about this? I can only imagine how heavy all that snow is on top of our roofs and there really isn't anyway to clear the roof without going up there.
I don't know if it's just me but I feel that my house has "shifted" a little. Looking at my hardwood floors, I noticed the ones along the wall must have moved a little as I can now see the white paint on my floor from painting the walls, frames, baseboards when I previously can't. Also some gaps between the hardwood piece are also starting to crop up too measuring as big as 4 mm in size...
no snow on your roof means bad insulation and you are losing heat.
twitchyzero: i think your dad was remembering back in 2008-ish when carports were collapsing under heavy wet snow. i remember there being a big one at one of those low rise apartments near metrotown. several of the cars were parked with no insurance(!) and icbc said tough luck.
there was another one along mt seymour parkway across from the chevron station. not 100% sure but they never rebuilt that one after it came down.

Well... it says tomorrow afternoon... so I guess I don't need to clear my car off now? Just gonna leave it at home tomorrow so I don't have to deal with the hassle.

u can make something like this with parts from home depot, maybe $30 max?
I had some girl come into the busser station the other day trying to make out with every staff member and then pull down her pants and asked for someone to stick a dick in her (at least she shaved).

I'm flying into YVR at 8pm tomorrow evening. Worried that the flight gets cancelled and I'm stuck in Edmonton for an extra night
Probably should have parked in the parkade, and not an outdoor lot. I'm hoping the heavy stuff starts at say... 10pm?
weather canada says snowfall starts at around 4pm, and then really starts to come down approx. 7pm with the chance of freezing rain. the heavy rainfall warning comes into effect at 2am.
good luck. if you're lucky i think noah's ark might have some extra space for you.

looking like tonight's storm might not be so bad in terms of snow accumulation and will become rain overnight through Thursday
hope they're right about this one

Warnings
5:47 AM PST Wednesday 08 February 2017
Winter storm warning in effect for:
Sea to Sky - West Vancouver Upper Levels to Squamish
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
An intense Pacific warm front will arrive late this afternoon. The front will move in from the south and spread warmer, moist air over the colder Arctic air still in place at the surface.
Snow will start falling this afternoon and become heavy this evening. Blowing snow will further reduce visibilities in some areas. As the warm air establishes itself, there will be a risk of freezing rain tonight especially south of Squamish before the transition to rain. From Squamish to Whistler snow is expected to persist through the night and all day Thursday.
Total snowfall amounts will vary from around 15 cm over southern Howe Sound to 40 to 60 cm between Squamish and Whistler.
In addition, strong northerly winds near 70 km/h will continue over southern sections of Howe Sound.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
ShiftIntoWinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

Winter storm warning in effect for:
Metro Vancouver Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
An intense Pacific warm front will arrive this afternoon. The front will move in from the south and spread warmer, moist air over the colder Arctic air still in place at the surface.
Snow will start falling this afternoon and become heavier into the evening. As the warm air establishes itself, there will be a good chance of freezing rain followed by significant rainfall overnight Wednesday and Thursday.
The transition to rain is expected earliest along the immediate coast. Further inland, snow will persist longer and the risk of freezing rain will increase. As a result, snowfall amounts will vary considerably across the region, from 5 to 15 cm near the coast to 20 cm or more inland.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
