Marchand incident, Ference suspension, Tim Thomas' decision.. and the Bruins reputation as a reckless hockey club with their style of play... negativity is starting to surround the club. About time they don't get special treatment from the NHL
I liked Thomas before, but like him even more. I'm surprised there's a huge backlash on his refusal to visit the White house. Don't people realize that hockey's just a form of entertainment, what he stands for, albeit a bit vague, still trumps the "celebrations" It's sad people aren't seeing that their liberties are slowly being taken away. Ya especially if you play on a rival team now. Do they always wait this long before visiting? Couldn't have done it in the off-season?
i think its done usually coinciding with their games vs the washington capitals

What i don't get is how is Thomas can be a republican. I understand if he just doesn't like Obama or thinks he did a poor job. But really like Romney or Newt Gingrich would have been any better?
The other problem i have with it was this was about the Bruins as champions and it didn't have anything to do with politics. Thomas made it that.
lol hope timmy is supporting RON PAUL. If it was live television and I was a bruins, i would grab obama's mic while he is joking around with the players and say "USA IS DOOMED without ron paul!" I never will support Obama.
just realized something. boston bruins visit the white house after winning the stanley cup... tim thomas decides not to attend the meeting there. he's the only american on the team right?

What's dumb about the 'being a Republican' excuse is that everything Obama's doing follows Republican ideals.
It's like the people with power said 'okay, we're gonna put a guy in office who's gonna be a Democrat, but everything he's gonna do will be Republican - but don't worry, he'll be black so people won't complain as bad as if he was white"
The Bruins were invited to the White House to celebrate the sport like every other championship team at the United States Capitol. Its not like they were invited to the Democratic national convention.
It was a completely non political event and Thomas had to make it political. Its about representing your sport in front of your country, not making a political statement.
There is only 3 Americans on the bruins roster too.
Whats next, Thomas keeps his helmet on and doesn't stand for the Canadian anthem because hes an american?
