dunno why did he sign a 2 mil per year.... he knows he was worth more... maybe no one noticed him at that time? (but everyone in the fucking city knew it was a bargain!)
its called hometown discount and wanting the best chance to win the cup.
shots were like 43-36, such a legit game. Unfortunately, I missed the third period tho, but i was constantly refreshing my phone for scores and I had friends text me what was happening. It wasn't the same feeling tho

he probably knows he was taking a hit pay cheque wise, but im sure he would rather stay for a bit less and have a solid chance to win the cup.
since burrows is the type of guy that legitimately seems to care about the city/fans, i'm sure he factored that in when re-signing here. he loves the organization, his teammates and he's treated like a superstar here playing on the first line. not to sound mean, but he probably wouldn't even be playing in the NHL if we didn't give him a shot considering he wasn't drafted and nobody knew his name.
my guess is he would be making somewhere around 4M+ on any other team. roughly 20 goal scorer and does every single fucking role on the team?

+1 for Vancouver and Detroit games. These teams play the game the way it's supposed to be be played. Over 70 shots.
Win in Jersey boys!
Hockey at its finest. If all teams played like them hockey in the states would be more popular.
I know it will never happen but I wish they would reward good teams like this with points. Can't watch games like canucks vs nashville because its so boring.

well... if you had been watching for more than the last couple of years, you'd know the answer to that question. we all know burrows took a discount for several reasons. not to knock burrows in the slightest, but he knows between him and the sedins, he's the icing on the cake.
Burrows is so clutch now, clutch like Linden almost!

1. Boston game.
2. FIRST Red Wings/Canucks game (early in the year)
3. This game.
4. Chicago (the most recent one...OT win)
That first game vs the Wings was even better than this one, I thought. That game was a gorgeous display of how good hockey can be. Play was totally end to end but not because of terrible defense...rather that the offensive talent was so high end in the game that they were creating absolutely amazing chances out of nothing.
This one was exciting because of the way it ended, which was fucking epic, but there wasn't much going on for good chunks of the game.
Once Upon A Time, Charles Wang And Mike Milbury Royally Fucked Brian Burke
In 2001, the Canucks broke camp with two goaltenders: lifetime backup Dan Cloutier, and some dude. (Martin Brochu is about as "some dude" as a pro hockey player can be. In three non-consecutive NHL seasons, he got nine starts and didn't win a single one.) It was a personnel mystery that's endured to this day, mostly forgotten because Cloutier had a decent season and Vancouver would make the playoffs. But there had to be a pretty good reason why the Canucks would start the season with a backup and a third goalie, but not a true starter. There is, and it involves old favorites like Mike Milbury and Garth Snow.
There's a new book on GMs called "Behind The Moves," and Canucks Army has pulled out a passage where then-Vancouver GM Brian Burke explains just what happened:
"Islanders GM Mike Milbury really fucked me one time on a deal where we had a handshake and he agreed. It wasn't his fault; it was the owner's fault. But we had a deal for Garth Snow right before the waiver draft, and he pulled out of the deal that morning…. I had to take Martin Brochu in the waiver draft, and people have no idea. People ask, ‘Why did you take Martin Brochu?' Because Mike Milbury fucked me on a deal…. In fact, it was right after 9/11, and I was driving over the Golden Gate Bridge going to Santa Rosa, where our team was training. I said, ‘Mike, we're all set, right?' He goes, ‘No.' I said, ‘What the fuck do you mean,"no"?' He goes, ‘Charles [Wang] doesn't want to do it.' I said, ‘Who's the GM – you or Charles?'… I said, ‘You are fucking me like you can't believe. I have no plan B here, Mike. I didn't need a plan B because I had a Plan A.' He totally fucked me, but I don't blame him. It was the owner."
Charles Wang had purchased the Islanders the year before, and didn't want to part with veteran Garth Snow. Perhaps he had long-term plans for him: in 2006, it was Snow that replaced Milbury as Isles GM.
A footnote, just to point out that no one escaped this shitshow unscathed. In the 2001 waiver draft, the same one where the Canucks landed Martin Brochu, the Islanders selected Chris Osgood. Osgood would quickly win the starting job in Uniondale, relegating Snow to the bench.

Anyone remember this game? Burrows breaking the stick gesture was from this game back in 2008 when he broke Canucks 8 game losing streak <--- (EDIT my bad LOl)
