We have moved too far left, and people started noticing that their life don't get better with a far left movement. Thus, they shift right. Think how 8years of Obama brought Trump into power.
With how things are going, I wouldn't be surprised both Canada and US go right again in the next election.
It's the beauty of democracy. It eventually balances out.

The US is going left next election. A lot of people are pissed off about abortion bans in the US. Canada is going to have another minority government. If the cons have it no other party will work with them so we will have another election.

Pushback is expected with everything of course but such a strong pushback all the way into crazy territory that's just shocking
Not many Democrats are further left than maybe just a bit left of center. Certainly nobody who gets nominated for President.
Biden is a bit more left than Obama was but on a scale of 0 to Bernie, Biden is maybe a 3
I agree that the right wing is pushing back, but that's expected before any revolution or something close to it. The old conservatives are dying off, and their children are thinking their easy lives are being taken away. They don't expect "their lives to get better with the left movement" they just don't want other peoples lives to get better if they think that it's at their expense. And on top of that you get the nutjobs who are provoked by Trump and Putin trolls. That's how you get the return of fascism to Italy, and people trying to introduce it into the US, and even Canada a little bit.
Yeah it's not crazy at all. There are huge issues that a fully progressive platform doesn't really address well for a lot of people. With all the migration throughout Europe, it's a huge isue for those countries. Most progressive minded people want everyone to have freedom, like religion, sexuality, gender identity, whatever. But what if that freedom means you let people think their god gives their men sovereignty over all women? Can you take that freedom away?
I think when the govt. starts pandering to religious freedoms of people coming from other countries, that’s already gone too far. Especially when, like you said, those “religious rights” are essentially stripping rights from women etc. it’s pretty ducking gross imo.
I was just in Frankfurt for 2 days, about a 2 square km circle from the train station is like a North African downtown east side. I’m sure all the finance people and Germans who are taking their kids to their fancy schools now with armed guards in the area are thrilled with the immigration policies the previous govt. put in place

People of the "established religions" in the USA are accomplishing that goal pretty well on their own....
It’s one thing when you are making rulings on religions based which founded the country. I don’t agree but I definitely side with Christianity over Islamic burka phobia.
Btw, cheers to everyone on their 5th booster still wearing masks to the park, enjoy!

The rise in the right is a mix of internet propaganda (the right excels in this, and has for eternity here), and people's angst with late-stage capitalism.
We've commodified the world to every degree nowadays, people are tired of it. The move to globalism has realistically lessened the proverbial "slice of pie" for everyone, and as such rightwing nativism has bolstered as a result.
The irony of it all is that this expected and understandable anger is being targeted at the wrong people, and predictably the orchestrators of this very problem are using it to entice voters to vote for them.
It's a conundrum that I'm not sure we'll be able to fix, as I've always said -- the internet or social media more broadly has been a double edged sword to our societies.
Lol I guarantee you there’s people on here that fall in that group.
The rest of the world has moved on. We are so far behind it’s not even funny when you actually see how other countries are living.
I don't understand why you have to belittle those that want to get their n-th booster and wear a mask to the park. Do you know their medical history, or who they interact with, and more importantly, how do their choices affect you?
And before you say that I fall into "that group", I have received 3 vaccinations in total and often wear a mask in public when indoors. I find that wearing a mask does not inconvenience me. I'm a healthy individual (haven't been to the doctor in ages) and I get flu-shots annually. I have yet to catch COVID-19 (knock on wood).
I find that most mask/booster requirements are now optional/recommended.

Probably a mix of internet trolling and being an actual asshole. Still undecided about the proportion because he's actually generally pleasant in other parts of RS lol.
Willing to sell a family member for a few minutes on RS

The constitution is based on the separation of church and state but cool you’re just not down with those damn immigrant religions causing the same problem as the “go back to your country if you don’t like it” religion.

Jupiter is viewable like a distant star for much of the year, but it will be especially bright and detailed in the night sky on Sept. 26-27 because it’s closer than it’s been to Earth since 1963 — yup, in nearly six decades.
We asked Marley Leacock, an astronomer and science educator with Vancouver’s H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, a few questions about how best to watch tonight’s rare space spectacle.
When is the best time to see it?
“Jupiter is in the sky pretty much all night,” says Leacock. “It rises in the east at around 7 p.m. and sets at about 7 a.m. tomorrow. The best time to view would be when it is highest in the sky, around 1 a.m. on Sept. 27.”
