6.4 is the middle rate. Buying or selling RMB would be more like 6.65 or so.
So 519 * 1.12 = 581 * 6.65 = $3865 COST
And they are selling in China for "above $3520" as you claim, which is still a significant LOSS on each item. Even if you were selling for $4000, it would hardly be worth the trouble of buying, transporting, taking the effort to sell...
They are in the $4400-4600 HKD range right now, which is around $3600 RMB. That is in stores... how much are they paying for them? Probably not much
The whole idea is stupid, Hyde is right this time.
I'm thinking you two are talking about different things. Honestea is talking buying from shops whereas Hyde is talking about selling to shops instead of directly to people
THIS.
LOL lowest price on TaoBao is 3900 RMB but alright guys. Let's drop this topic since the China resell market doesn't effect most of us.

estimates for the ipad2 i read were only 500k-1million since apple didnt release them
my cousin helped his friend order 10 ipads (they arrived on friday)
when he dropped them off he says his buddy has 128 of them............. (the 64gb lte one) he's going to sell them in Russia says he makes around $100 from each one (although i read some articles saying they sell for far higher there)
but i dont know the new ipad doesnt seem to be in short supply wonder how he'll make out
Edit: Apple specifically stated that the number does not include pre orders. I guess there are a lot of people like this out there
I wonder if this boost will do a lot to slow down the loss of market share to Android tablets over a period of time. It is predicted that Android will hold over 50% market share by 2016, but for some reason that doesn't seem to consider Windows 8 tablets. Once Windows 8 tablets come out, things will be very interesting, because the gap between PC and tablet may finally start to be bridged.
Smart marketing, even though the only people who should give a damn are shareholders.

if someone makes an x86 win8 tablet with respectable specs im all over it
hopefully nokia or vaio does but i doubt it (nok seems to be stuck with mobile cpus and sonys stuck making android tablets)
as for apple sales not including pre-orders that seems doubtful doesnt it? 1million units a day for 3 days?
why dont they list sales including pre-orders then? (since pre-orders weren't shipped and CCs weren't charged until friday the 16th they probably counted pre-orders as sales for that day)
There will be an ARM version of Win8 so you won't need x86 hardware to run it. this will be useful for the tab version
Here's the article where Apple specifically states that the 3 million figure doesn't include preorders. It is mind blowing, considering that anecdotally the reaction doesn't seem as big as other launches.
Actually I just realized that the new ipad 3 launched in 10 countries this time, compared to the US only launch of the old ipad 2.. so it's somewhat believable that they sold 3 million "since launch"
Three million sales are not so hard to believe. Apple launched the iPad 2 while they were ramping up production which is why there were long waits. Estimates are it took them almost a month to hit one million iPad 2's.
They obviously learned their lesson and made sure to have plenty of stock on hand this time around.
All I can say is I'm feeling pretty good about betting the farm (time & money developing an App) on the iPad last year. Nothing like having tens of millions of potential customers.
Lines of Resellers Returning New iPads at Fifth Avenue Apple Store
Friday March 23, 2012 11:09 am PDT by Jordan Golson
A tipster sends us this tale of a trip to the Fifth Avenue Apple Store last night.
Went to the Fifth Ave store near midnight today, and saw that Apple was setting up a separate line just to handle the volume of iPad returns from Chinese resellers. The manager kept the separate line to ensure that regular customer's experience wasn't affected. Some people were returning up to 30.
Any good cases that you guys would recommend for the iPad 3??

Right now I'm using the OEM Apple Smart Cover and its working well for me. I've been looking for a case that similar to my OEM Blackberry Playbook Convertible case and recently found one. It called the Switcheasy Canvas case. CANVAS for For the new iPad / iPad 2 - SwitchEasy

I bought this one - it looks pretty similar to what you posted:

Granted, you'll need to have it shipped to the US. I bought mine when they had it on sale for $10.
Thanks for the opinions everyone. I ended up going with the targus vuscape
