C7 ZR1

Quote:
this pushrod V8 uses an Eaton supercharger that's 52-percent larger than the one on the Z06. The throttle body has a diameter of nearly 4 inches. All in, the LT5 makes 755 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 715 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. That's a 300-horsepower leap over the base Corvette.
...
Still, all the power in the world means jack if you can't put it down. Look at the lengths Dodge had to go to with the Demon. With the ZR1, it's all about aero, hence the splitter and rear wing. Downforce without drag was key, and it seems to have worked. Like the Z06, there are multiple aero packages for the ZR1. The standard low-wing setup delivers 70-percent more downforce than a base Z06. Top speed with the low wing is 210 miles per hour.

There were rumours the lt5 was going to be a dohc which would also be used in the C8. So kinda disappointed with that. Otherwise should be retarded fast and set track records and be purchased by old men with corvette jackets and driven 500km a year

Hope this would last longer at the track than the C7 Z06.

Hmm... lasting longer...

Another Corvette I wont buy.

I've thought long and hard about getting a Z06, always decide against it cuz I know once I'm done modding it I'll end up grenading the rear end. There is no affordable fix for this. Lets see if this one is any better.

Last of the FR layout, if MSRP is $140K-$150K US, what will it be in Canada $165K-$175K? A buyer would have some pretty enticing other options at that price point without having to grow the moustache required by Corvette ownership.

Now that new mid-engine corvette, that might be a different story.

Besides the Nissan GTR, what other vehicles can compete in this price range? I don't know much about new vehicles, but every supercar I see advertised is 300K+?

its strange how there isnt many regular vette stingrays around Vancouver. Its quite a good performance bargain at 70k (before incentives). It'll hang with porsche 911's all day long on stock trim.

0-60 in 3.7 is ludicrously fast already, why bother with a z06 package.

In terms of numbers on a spec sheet, none.

BUT...if someone were to hand me $175K and tell me to buy any car I wanted with it. I'm not sure I'd buy a C7 ZR1. I'd cross shop a used exotic, the experience is about so much more than the data on the spec sheet.

Maybe that's just me?

Given the Z06 overheating problems, it seems like a dud if you plan on taking the car to the track. But then if you aren't taking the car to the track, why bother with the Z06? (At least, that'd be my thinking.)

IMO, the C7 Grand Sport is the car to go for, but it is rather $$$ with a list price of almost $100k.

I agree with you. Same that’s the same reason why I’d never buy a brand new vehicle for myself. There is always better used cars. But that is apples to oranges.

Good ole fashion American exotic. I love it when they try and put honest engineering into their sports cars. I'd love a MR corvette.

Me too.

despite what great sports cars and great value the C6 and C7 Corvette's are, there is still just something about them that gives me pause, and hence why I bought a 911.

A mid-engine C8 though, I'll seriously consider one of them when they hit the showrooms (and when the new car markup over MSRP goes away).

i wonder what the c8 vette is going to be like. up til now, vettes have always had that super broad range from relatively cheapinexpensive sports car, all the way up to supercar performance.

are they going to keep selling $65k corvettes?

^ thats the thing, I just think it doesn't get the respect it deserves...

But realistically, as someone stated, at 175K, there are quiet a few vehicles I would consider... like R8, Merc GTS, I mean yes... its not nearly as fast...but.... R8 lol.... and yea a 911 GT3 (are non-RS models at least doable for first time Porsche ownership?)

a camaro ss 1le for 45k is keeping up with base vettes now, you also have a zl1 1le and possibly another z/28 coming up. so i think theres room for the base corvette to grow in price and performance. the corvette can be more of a halo car
