Have given up on the Hyundai Kona. Compared to the Niro, Kona is pretty sub par.
Any thoughts on the Niro?
Any Kia sales people here? I'm in the market for a Niro.

Let's start with what's wrong with the Kona?
The Niro is alright, shares the platform with the Ioniq but has a hatch, so it's more spacious in comparison. Features wise, the fully loaded model is pretty packed, but anything lower seems insufficient as a result.

wrong with kona
- interior on top end feels cheap
- trunk space is less than niro
- not fuel efficient (but is awd)
- not worth the bang for buck
- back seat room is comfy for 2
right with niro
- hybrid (not awd)
- cargo space is good
- back seat room is good
- good features even on 2nd from top end
- interior feels good
Can you do a review?

Most ads show "model GT shown" with the price of base model advertised.

I do have the top trim of the Kona Booked but the Niro was pulled from fleet already. I did get a small chance to drive it and it was nice.
Only thing I would say is the interior of the two is pretty comparable. I don't feel the Niro is any better than the Kona. Kona's just funkier
- Kona interior feels cheaper than Niro
- Niro interior feels more refined, and the seats are bit more supportive
- From a styling perspective, I like Kona's funky style, the Niro is a bit bland up front, but the hideous plastic wheel arches kill the Kona's styling IMO.
- Niro has more trunk capacity (or it feels that way)
- Niro has better fuel economy than Kona due to it being a hybrid, but you aren't going to get anywhere fast because it is very slow off the line. OK once you get going.
- Kona has AWD, if that is important to you. Not an option on the Niro.
- Niro has great features in the upper tier models
The Niro is the better buy as long as you don't need AWD and you aren't in a hurry. I think the batteries have a 10 year warranty. I would only get the Kona if AWD is a must, or the styling is more preferable. If you go with the Niro, definitely get the EX with Premium Package or the Touring to get best bang for your buck.
Most ads show "model GT shown" with the price of base model advertised.
Yes, but the video wasn't a case of a couple seeing a top-level model on a TV advertisement and then complaining the base model they purchased wasn't like the vehicle shown on TV.
They went to a dealership, got a brochure which outlined which features came with which trims, ordered the trim they wanted, and didn't receive what was advertised in the brochure.
If you look at the video, the brochure clearly states that the LED Light Bar Taillights are available on the mid-level trim with the V6 engine and the top-level trim.
My guess is that feature is not available in Canada (it still appears on the SX and SXL trims in the US brochure) and it was simply a mistake, but how Kia handled it was to say, "Oh, too bad you didn't get what we advertised. We reserve the right to say fuck you!" instead of owning up to it being a mistake.
