However I still think the likelihood of me or the majority of people I know becoming gravely I’ll is still very slim but as it seems to be, I’m trying to do good unto others and not go out and potentially spread anything any further.
And that’s the key part - not spreading the germs to others that might get really sick. Just thinking that you won’t get really sick is the selfish (but completely understandable) way of looking at things now.

I’m hoping for everything to be over relatively quickly and that major lessons are learned here so we hopefully won’t have to go through this BS again for some time.
One very important development is that people who show NO symptoms may be spreading the virus. It's still too soon to say with scientific certainty but some clues are presenting themselves.
I wouldn't risk going anywhere TBH. Stay home with your friends, family and community at least until the storm passes and the infection number stabilizes.

My work (car dealership) has no intention of shutting down any time soon, and no one at my work has taken time off yet. Im still contemplating going in to work tomorrow. My concern is that i don't want to risk spreading anything to the elders at home.

cbc news Vancouver was at yvr, and no one is being checked, or told to self isolate.
Passengers are saying officers are asking groups of ppl in general if they're feeling okay /shrug
A senior said he was told IF he was feeling ill he should self isolate
Outstanding.
At this point I'm beginning to wonder if this incompetence is even unintentional.
Spoiler!
Spoiler!
UK strategy?

I would rather people be over-reacting.
That way we can stop virus transmitting more effectively.
And yes, it is real to a certain point.
I still don't get why people are thinking this is just a flu...
Wait till you see more serious outbreaks in Canada......then its way too late.
Canadian health and medical system will not hold it.
Guaranteed.
As i said before, Canada most likely will be the next Italy.
What else should we do other than avoid crowded places and wash our hand 46 times a day? People have bills to pay. Ei only covers 2 weeks of staying home from work. Sure we can get a break from paying a mortgage and fortis bills Etc.
All those bills are going to add up and then were fucked when its time to pay up.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work from home, remote into my office computer.
Friend works at downtown and he has no work starting today...
55% EI barely covers his $2.5k+ downtown rent.
There is lot of people living pay cheque to pay cheque, now suddenly have no way to pay next rent....

I hope Canada will have all the equipment they need and the number of infected is low. I don't want them to choose one of these two choices.

Not calling you out bro, but none of this is new information. I've been posting the same shit since like day 1, just that a lot of people ignored it since it was not in their backyard.
Actual experts (not TV doctors, not politicians or media) were saying all along that this would happen. That's the information I've been repeating the entire time (along with some of my own speculation based on observations and having been through SARS)
It's kind of like how we all knew Fukushima was a really fucking bad thing for Japan, but not really the rest of us immediately. No actual experts were saying that there was going to be any direct threat to anyone outside a certain area, it was only the nutjobs spreading fear.
However real experts HAVE been saying that coronavirus was well past the point of being able to be contained AFTER China finally admitted it was happening, and without every country literally closing their borders to Chinese visitors, a pandemic was all but inevitable. There was never a valid argument against this.
None of this should have surprised anyone.
I will say that every day we delay social distancing, the number of overall infections will go significantly higher. As stylin posted, Canada are almost out of respirators. They've already been running hospitals at 100% capacity, and soon they're going to be at 10,000% capacity if this doesn't slow down.
Again not calling you out, not saying "I told you so". The reason I've been harping on this for 2 months is because I've been there before, and Hong Kong has been here before. We showed an effective way to handle it (and the people deserve a lot of the credit, as they were the ones who forced the govt into action immediately, when they were unwilling to do so), and everyone should have been getting ready to do the same thing. Early response was the best response, and it was led by the people, even with THIS damn government of all the ones in the world which is extra amazing.
I'm glad you came around - it's never too late in terms of social acceptance. There are STILL people in fucking denial about this, including some here still failing posts that are giving good information.

If it were between me and a 25 year old, hot babe.............. j/k
Yeah, unless the youngster was a fucking useless crackhead, I'd gladly make the choice for them and say my goodbyes. Aside from not ever seeing the canucks hoist the cup, I've had a great life. Bucket list almost completed.
I don't think any senior would put themselves ahead of a young person.

Hospitals across B.C. are cancelling elective surgeries across the board this week, to free up beds and staff for an expected surge in coronavirus patients in need of acute care.
“B.C. health authorities are directed to immediately move all hospitals in the province to outbreak response basis,” Health Minister Adrian Dix said Monday. “This means hospitals will only undertake urgent and emergency procedures, and will postpone all non-urgent scheduled surgeries.
“This will be implemented in the next three to five days, and it will result in the cancellation of thousands of scheduled, elective surgeries in BC, and free up, as you would expect, hundreds and hundreds of hospital beds.”
