The general public does not give a rat's ass about our ability to mod cars. It's not a sexy issue, there is no money to be made, no one get can up in arms about health and safety of children etc. Look how big of a deal those donation boxes killing people are. It's a sexy headline, people are dying, people can now pretend to care about homlessness for another two weeks until it's not cool anymore. Smoking, vaping, weed etc, people can relate to. No one cares about our shiny $5,000 dollar wheels or our right to put on a loud exhaust. That's the truth, it will not gain any support from the community at large. Especially when we get headline after headline of kids ripping down streets doing 160+ and getting their lambos pasted on the front page on the Vancouver Sun. I'm sure you've read the comments? Rich kids, immigration, Chinese, dirty money, house prices, avoid taxes, daddy will buy them another one.

The general public is already predisposed to hate car culture in Van and indirectly tie it to all the problems Van has.

The general public would prob be for banning modified exhausts. No one ever said, "Damn, I wish all these cars had louder exhausts". Most people probably have a more negative interaction with it than the other way around.

We're a VERY VERY small group. I'm not saying roll over and die, but like I said. It's like trying to put out a forest fire with a screwdriver. Sometimes it's a better idea to lay low and let the fire burn out than tell the entire village and have them find out you were the guys playing with fireworks in the bush.

Let us be real, there are a lot of cars out there with some really messed up mods. Most of the car scene is full of responsible owners, but we all get lumped into the same pile and the opposition will always find the few bad apples to be their poster child of the problem. They will turn this into a public safety issue and talk about how it is a danger to your family, causes accidents, your ICBC rates are so high because of accident etc etc. Turns the whole thing into US vs Them instead of looking at the real issue of VPD issuing VI's to cars that are fine and the owners have no recourse.... and it works, really really well.

Look at the recent law (AB1824) passed in Cali, arguably the LARGEST car culture in NA.
