Reputable mechanic? Backyard mechanic?
New to this part of the forum!
Got my bike insured but I need to get it ready for Spring. I'm overdue for a new chain and sprockets on my bike, a 1994 Honda CB1000. Rare bike, never sold in Canada. So already I need to buy the parts from the US at US prices.
I wanted to save money and do it myself. I know I'm capable of doing, so, watched some videos and it's pretty straight forward. I've done tougher jobs on my cars. But I don't have a bike stand, or a chain breaker/riveting tool. I might need a proper socket for the front sprocket too. I have limited space where I live for a bike stand but potentially could make it work.
So to buy a bike stand and chain tool looks to be the same cost as labour at a shop to do the job, which when I looked around looked to be about 2 billable hours of labour.
So my question is, should I go my own route and buy the tools? If not, can someone recommend a local shop or even decent backyard mechanic that can help me out? Again, it's not a tough job and if I'm going to pay for it I'd rather it not go to Carter Honda.
Cheers.

Burnaby Kawasaki seems to be the cheapest.

Not sure. A bunch of RSers just went for similar stuff and got pretty good prices. Best to call.
