I know lots of people in their 30s or 40s that are single that just either take a break from apps, or completely walk away from them entirely. They essentially accept and enjoy being single, and if something comes their way organically great, if not, life goes on.

It's interesting how things have changed in that way, especially since covid.

I'm pretty much here LOL. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. Met some pretty cool people when I was in Korea, but nothing long term, at least not realistically. My game in Asia vs game in Vancouver is unmatched tho. I think it could be that the values that I hold are more akin to traditional Asian values, and it definitely works better in Asia. Or maybe more the idgaf what happens/the fact that I'm not at home .

I did unexpectedly match and go out with someone very down to earth, values and upbringing match, and she even paid for the date - lunch and dinner. Second date scheduled.

You probably get the shittiest type of people on the apps. Chances are even if you meet someone you like they are a serial dater who are still on the apps even after you think you've hit it off. Always looking for someone better.

You must have somewhat of a social network, friends that know people who aren't crazy? Hell you'd probably even do much better just putting your nuts on the chopping block and cold approaching someone.

I think at the end of the day, everyone has to remember that there's a reason why there are 30yo good looking/above average looking Asian girls that are single. Most of them are fucked in the head. You're living in a different time my friend. If you so much as mention AA/Dutch/splitting the bill in any manner you will be dropped immediately because:

1. you're a cheapskate
2. by not paying, that means you're not interested (my female friend said this during discussions and my other females friends seemed to agree)
3. clearly you'll never be a provider if you can't even pay for a date
4. girls spend so much to look good that you should/owe it to them to be paying the date (serious actual line of thinking some have)

The above is also why many girls poo-poo the idea of a coffee date because that's cheap and requires little planning. AKA, they can't get a sense of how much you're willing to spend in order to get their attention away from the hordes of men also chasing her. Therefore, it's a shit date idea and you're cheap AF so time to ghost you.

In reality, it's an easy way to get to know someone and either one of you can bail if it goes poorly. It also requires both parties being able to hold a conversation which many (and I mean MANY) simply have no personality beyond their looks so a date like this exposes them to reality.

Also, on the opposite spectrum if a girl pays for the entire date (other than BIC's scenario, it seems) it usually means they don't want to see you again. This is them trying to walk away with a clean conscience because they no longer owe you anything from previous dates you likely paid for. Even this though, is rare because many don't feel like they owe you a damn thing to begin with.

If you're in a profession where you're meeting people constantly, like sales, marketing, public affairs, etc., you're presenting your best self to close deals and build relationships- it's not hard to understand how others would find you attractive.

In terms of modern dating and CBCs, I understood the dynamic that akinari is talking about almost two decades ago. Sounds like things haven't really changed in 2025/2026. Maybe CBC guys need to be less stubborn and date people who are open to dating you. Guys like Mike have no problem either so the old rules still apply - be attractive and be attractive.
