Because we are proceeding towards trial it wouldn't be wise for me to go up there. He's a pathological liar and would probably say I went up there and attacked him.
He has turned this situation around in his f'd up mind and he seriously thinks he's the victim here and I'm the bad guy. He tells people I'm making up all this stuff to make him look bad when he was just doing me a favor.

Not sure if this question was answered within the 36 pages, but how come you went to someone from Canada for help buying a car from the U.S? I'm guessing it's because he was a family friend and you knew he was going down to cali?

I know it was stupid of me. I've known this guy for at least 5 years. I met him through his cousin who used to live a couple houses down from me. Over the years he approached me a couple times asking if I needed a car because he would hook me up with his dealer license.
This last July he saw that I sold my Supra and was debating between an ISF and a Viper. He commented and said he had a dealer license and could get me an ISF at a good price using his dealer license. Then he IM'd me on FB and we discussed it a bit. It wasn't even that much cheaper, he was just going to give me the convenience of not having to deal with going to get it myself and shipping and I would save a couple grand off the going rate on Craigslist. I wanted a blue one but he "found" me a black one and insisted I get that one and he would pay to have it painted blue and he would pay for shipping and give me some parts as a sponsorship deal to represent his shop. From the pictures I saw of his shop I thought it was legit but a dump and he didn't know anything about modding cars or painting. I was just going to get the car and not let him do anything to it.
In the days before I wired him the money we would discuss the deal every day through IM or text and he always pretended he was working at his shop. He wouldn't respond for a while and then he'd say a ton of customers just stopped in. Now I know he was probably just sleeping or playing video games.
So this is what I get for trusting somebody who wasn't a complete random stranger who offered me a service that should have been easy enough to complete or else just give me a refund.
He says he only lost half the money but yet he refuses to refund the other half.
They also had to stay in California until all the money ran out before they would come home.
