Yamaha motorcycle repair
Hey guys,
i know this aint exactly "sports bike" material, but don't seem to have a general bike section.
I'm looking into building a older yamaha bike, with some fabrication of some newer parts (r6's fork and swingarm). Wondering if any of you know any shops who deals with older bikes and able to do some custom fab for a reasonable price?
Thanks a lot guys

The first person that comes to mind is Bill @ 5th Gear Motorsports in Richmond (Westminster Hwy.) He has extensive experience in building old bikes into rat rods, bobbers, cafe racers etc. I understand he does all his welding and fabrication in-house but I might be wrong.
My only other suggestion is Cypress Motorbike in Delta. Dave and Darcy went through my SR500 quite thoroughly and they specialize on older bikes (re: anything old and carb'd.) I can't think of any other shops in town who can do such work. Their shop rate is $84/hour which seems to be average. I would think its roughly the same with Bill at 5th Gear. Good luck!
Since the season is pretty much coming to an end, the two aformentioned shops should have time/space to work on your project throughout the fall and winter.
Oh, and no "build" thread is any good without any details!

honestly, i'm getting this older bike as a learner + project. so once i'm more comfortable on the bike, i'm gonna put it to work during off-season. I know most people would recommend me to ride a smaller bike to start with, and i'm looking into that too. Somehow gotta find the balance between safety and budget, but i do want a small bike to learn on, i'm not big on killing myself to ride a two wheeler.
My plan is to build a chain drive Virago, i find them old school V-twin sexy as hell! Found a company (classified moto) in Richmond, VA that specialized in building these puppies with newer R6 parts, but obviously way too far to get them deal with it.

I know of Classified Moto. They do good work. But because you're looking for something specific, it's best to have them do the work and import the bike to Vancouver.

Virago. I'm looking for a cheap 750 somewhere in the $1000 range.
