That's pretty much how my kid almost ended up in a scrap with a 2nd kid.
2nd kid was hassling my kids friend, and mine told him to stop. 2nd kid gets his back up and postures. 3rd kid starts egging them on and says, "you should punch <kid 2>." 2nd kid heard "punch <kid 2>" and starts swinging. My kid is in Tae Kwon Do, so he just blocks both punches before I can close the 20 feet and separate them.

Long story short, no one got in serious trouble. Kid 2 has some cognitive challenges, and thought he was going to get punched so he preempted. My kid didn't want to fight, and was defending his friend and just blocked punches. 3rd kid got a stern talking to for causing the fight. 3rd kid is now at a different school, but not for this, but kid was a shit disturber.

My kid ended up with a playground rep for "defending his friend, beating up the other kid" for a short while.

Also, there were half a dozen parents within 20 feet that didn't even notice until I had grabbed both kids (K2 and mine) and hauled them off to the office.

It was a fun start to a grade 4 morning.

oh i got called in for my son in grade 4 involved in a fight... (I was still the dealership life then)

My wife was furious... but as a dad... we only care if our kid won...

I went to my son before seeing the principal and was like "so... did you win? did you F*** up the other kid?"

My son is like "no day, I got shit on, the other kid is grade 7"

my jaw dropped "WTF were you thinking you are grade 4, why would you go after someone in Grade 7?"

"Dad, my friend told me to back him up... so I backed him up"

"i am like.. true that bro... if your buddy needs back up... you fucking back him up, i am proud of you"

Then we go see principle, and all kids involved with parents get shit on by the principal... lololol The grade 7 did have the big kid advantage, but it was like 7 X grade 4 kids tried to jump him... lololol

Morale of the story: send your kids to a self defense/martial arts school! It’s important that they stress the defense part - don’t be a cocky shit going around picking fights, but be able to defend yourself or your friends if the shit goes down.

1. had multiple bomb threats phoned into my high school while there (all 5 years)
2. one year there were so many, the principal threatened to have us make up the lost time by cutting into summer break (threats magically stopped after that)

Now these 3 idiot shot at a house is surrey. Aomthing happened to the range rover they where in so they called a ride share. Cops pulled over the ride share and they where arrested. Here is where it gets funny. The range rover was owned by one of the shooters and had custom plates with the guys last name. Not the smartest.
