I remember Obama doing these types of engagements during his 1st presidential run, going into these rural diners full of old white folks who clearly felt uncomfortable with him. Former President Donald Trump once again suggested the Medal of Honor is somehow inferior to the Presidential Medal of Freedom during a campaign event in Potterville, Michigan, on Thursday — right in the middle of honoring James McCloughan, a war hero who received the Medal of Honor in the first year of Trump's presidency.

During the speech, Trump once again incorrectly referred to the award as the "Congressional Medal of Honor," a common but wrong term often used by laypeople.

"I always say, I'd rather get the presidential medal, because the guys that came in — other than you and a few others — oftentimes they've suffered greatly, right? They've suffered greatly, or they're not around. But it's our highest honor," said Trump.

This is essentially a repeat of Trump's controversial statements earlier this month, where he said the Medal of Freedom is "much better" than the Medal of Honor. Given another chance to clarify in a follow-up interview, he insisted he'd rather receive the Medal of Freedom because Medal of Honor recipients tend to have permanent battle scars — if they survive.

The sad thing is, I think if you put on about 10 beer goggles for his comments, you can kinda see where he's coming from... like in some weird way he honestly thinks this is a compliment and he's actually saying hey you got hurt but the man just has ZERO empathy and ZERO understanding of emotions or human sacrifice because he's never had to do any of those things ever. I hate Trump, but I think people are overreacting about his comments regarding the medal. I see what he's saying, but it's being conveyed in a retarded way.

It's like saying which would you rather have a piss pie, or a poo sandwich. Piss pie is better because it's not poop.

He's simply saying he'd rather a Medal of Freedom as it's an award that's granted for something that is generally not combat related, where as the Medal of Honor is given to guys who are likely coming back fucked up, through conducting a courageous act.
