People don't understand how good they have it in Canada -- where we have proper regulations, policy dictated by governance, not some laissez-faire shitfest down here where anything goes.

Been there a few times...Texas is 2nd largest (alasaka) but man, if you ever want tacos and mexican food, it's epic there. Driving there is a nightmare... you can spend hours on highways and 2nd level highways... it's a maze.

I do know a few people who couldn't afford to retire because of how expensive health care is (when u're not covered by corp).

I thought the poor retirees go to Mexico. I'm pretty sure it's better to retire in any Asian country with it's better, cheaper, faster healthcare than here.

Not shaming here, but you gained 15lbs on the Alaska cruise after a week. It's less the Shanghai lifestyle, than your personal habits.

In all honesty though, if it wasn't for my kids' education (which Canada is way better at). The conclusion from our discussion is we gonna stick it out till our kids finish post secondary and maybe I can convince wife to move back.

If I was single, I would buy a ticket today and move back to Shanghai.

There is enough equity in my house here that I can live comfortably back in Shanghai and do jack shit all day.

Including hotel + food + an unlimited data cellphone plan = $1700 CAD a month all in. (yes the lifestyle had me fattening up 18lbs in 16 days => $1700 CAD per month)

It's more so you needed a vacation from being a dad and husband.

No one ever really says it but I learned this from one of the directors at my previous jobs. He said he told his wife he needed a vacation, not just them going somewhere but rather just being away from the 24/7 jobs of dad and husband and adult.

It's something that is worthwhile to acknowledge and not just to sweep under the bed, even if it's not realistic.

That's the one thing that I like about Freeland in terms of her negotiating skills.

Trump can call her anything he wants to insult her. Freeland is not intimidated by a bully. She did not back down to any of Trump's demands during the last round of negotations of the free trade agreement. Props to her for standing up for Canada.

I don't have a problem with Freeland. She can be tone deaf but to be completely honest, most politicians would be out of touch with the majority of the voting population. Any policy will always rub certain demographics backwards because no policy would 100% fit everyone.

That excerpt means she'll be unpopular, but she might be able to get shit done in and out of Canada.
