If you want the brakes to stand out and they're not puny compared to the wheels, by all means, go red. If you want understated/clean go cast aluminum/gmg/black.
The coating that's on there is just to keep it from rusting after being rebuilt. Clean it off and paint with caliper paint. Don't forget to do the caliper mount too. Don't worry too much about the parts you can't see.

So I was looking for a new computer chair and really hated that a lot of them look "gamer" and all others were some sort of leather/vinyl which I couldn't get cause my cat would scratch it up. Ended up making my own with a Civic Si seat and some wood.

i've got a Versa Note seat in service as recliner at the moment... uncomfortable to sit on when it's actually in the car, but surprisingly ok in the house

Found mouse-poo on top of my car battery today. Some of the foam on the firewall was chewed, but no other visible damage and car runs fine.
