I did Wedgemount last summer, overnight, with camera gear + tripod. That was ~50-55lbs when all was said and done.
I've since "invested" in a lighter, more compact tripod.
I'm still debating what hikes to try to get out on, but I'm running into a lot of scheduling conflicts with friends and such in terms of organizing/trip planning. I may end up doing some solo runs up the mountains.

My tripod is light though.. Gitzo 2 series. The bag I have distributed the load evenly. The problem was probably the hike itself. Nearly 3000ft climb up and down in 13km round trip. It was my first hike for this season.

You need to do Wedgemount, then. There's pain, and then there's Wedgemount pain.

I see no reason to hike up a mountain with all the gear..unless going for a pro-shoot or something. Bring one extra lens, and a monopod. It's not worth it to carry all that weight!

Was gonna try Wedgemount later this year.. Can't wait. Is it easy to get a campsite?

Focus on shooting, and less on editing. I hope you keep posting! No need to get discouraged.

I disagree w/ your comment.
StylinRed, hope you don't mind, but I was curious and decided to play with your uploaded image, to see what a bit of magic could do to it.
I think it's aight for a phone shot. Probably woudl be way better if I had the original file.

Did some shooting down in the Vancouver Port Authority lands for a client who wanted high resolution shots of the view from where The Cannery restaurant's dining area used to be. Used a 50MP Hasselblad H4D-50 medium format digital camera with a 80mm f2.8 lens. This is a test shot I did - a panorama consisting of ten 50MP images stitched together, just to see how well Photoshop CS5 coped with large files. The file is 31,000 pixels wide and un-flattened is 4.69GB. It took my Macbook Pro 30 minutes to render the panorama. Aiyiyi~~!

Yep, definitely Paul. He teaches a sports photography course at Langara sometimes - a really nice guy.
