Transit should be an essential service. Maybe not full capactity, but some kind of reduced capacity is better than nothing.
If people like care aids, nurses, doctors, emergency dispatchers, etc are essential services, then the system that gets them to and from work should be essential too.
I feel bad for people who are stuck right now.

Japan does it right - when bus drivers strike they refuse to collect fares. System is 'undisturbed', employer suffers financially.

Aren't new apartment buildings allowed to have less parking based on the proximity to transit too?

The issue is that we drivers aren't on strike, it's the supervisors and transit control. So let's say that we take the bus out to operate, if we have any issues, they're the ones that are supposed to help us out but they're not available. Knowing this, would you still want me to go to on the road and operate the bus?

You’d be amazed how many people don’t pay regardless. No joke the route I take I see like 10-15% of people push through the handicapped gates at skytrain or just walk on the bus and not tap their cards. I don’t fault the bus driver in not trying to collect because who wants to deal with some skid over $2.75

This happens in Toronto a lot. Even when there was no strike, when I swiped my Presto card at the bus after a transfer from the subway, the bus driver gave me shit and told me not to swipe my card in the future lol

Since you have your professional license, could you sign up for Uber and drive while the strike is on? Or would your union have a problem with that?

Yeah, we can drive any ride share with or without the strike. We just have to be mindful of the NSC for maximum # of driving hours allowable per week.

If you can get one of those 12 person vans you already know a good route that has people in need of a ride along it.

So I was pleasantly surprised to learned that the truck came by and emptied my green bin. The two sad takeaways from this.
1. I'm so old that I'm happy some one took my garbage
2. CoV services are in such a poor state that I am surprised at things getting done.

Wouldn't employer be us (taxpayers) because it's a crown corp. Same same but different.

You know how you see a Dealer Number on a used car posting, I just found this website VSA where you can search for used care dealers based on that number. And it gives you all the salespeople that are licensed and works at that dealer as well. Eg. 5102, I found out was Pattison Lease.

I bought one off CL a few years ago, was fun for a week then the nostalgia wore off
Hopefully the one you buy has a better search menu than mine did

Those can be fun when you have friends around playing old brawlers and fighters. As a solo experience I imagine it gets very old very fast

I had an Arcade1Up, and yeah, the nostalgia runs out fast. Was nice for the first couple of months playing a bunch of NHL Open Ice and KOF, but then it just sat there as a display piece until I sold it.
I'll probably buy one again when I have more space tho, lol.

I feel the same about my NES and SNES re-release consoles. They are great when you have company over but the nostalgia wears off fast.
