Especially with the ludicrously tall gears. It’s the complete opposite of a close-ratio gearbox and a 5-speed to boot. Saps a lot of performance out of what could be a decently fun car.

Thoughts on ~2011 STi? Wife and I went to test drive a ‘14 focus ST and ‘15 fiesta ST today. She hated the fiesta too small and cheap feeling. She loves the feel of my RS. But not much option around 20k for an STI
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...677443361.html
Edit: anyone heard of 7 stars auto?

Lol I saw those snail trails too. Mileage might not be bad as long as they have proof of the replacement engine they advertise.

Get ready for engine rebuild after engine rebuild. If they offer you a warranty, you might as well decline. It's the oem parts that's the issue. You have to go aftermarket for this one - and I guess that's not terrible
Friend had a 2011 GR STI hatch, had it rebuilt at the dealer twice, still has issues. Ended up getting it rebuilt again at the dealer (covered under warranty), and sold it.

320icar ... not to stereotype but the Mrs doesn't need an STI, a WRX should be more than sufficient, no?

Really quite surprised that this car still hasn't sold yet:
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/cto/6690414609.html
Disclaimer -- I know the seller.
The price is certainly high for a 987.1. By my own estimate, a stock 987.1 of similar mileage would probably only ask for $35 - $38k, and this one is asking for quite a bit more than that. Of course, as an enthusiast keen on having functional and tasteful mods, I see a lot of value in the work that the owner did on the car. And knowing the owner, I know no expense was spared, and good stuff / good work was used on the car. I've seen the car in person in the past as well, and it was beautiful.
Would have loved to take over the car and enjoy it for a few years. Unfortunately, my current situation just wouldn't allow for that.

I've been heavily researching the Golf R/4Motion Wagon for my next car so I would be absolutely delighted if I could get a "secret Golf R wagon" for my next car instead of investing $$$ into making a swap happen.

Stuff like the GoPro mounted to the roll bar and the sticker on the bumper probably aren't helping things. I don't know if the roll bar is removable but I'd at least take out the aftermarket seat and harness to appeal to a larger market.

I own a 2017 4 motion dsg Highline SportWagen.
Performs great on twisty roads. Gti feel.
Plenty of power and yet Good on gas (8.2 city 6.8 highway).
Could be bigger for the second row but I'm able to transport 4 adults with minimal discomfort.
seats are supportive and has manual lumbar support.
Dsg feels like dogshit. If I'd do it all over again, I'd wait a year and snag the 6 speed.
My panoramic sunroof leaked within 1 year. That's the only issue so far. I got a feeling the dsg will explode shortly. Shifts are already quite harsh and occasionally off the line itll almost stall (feels like the clutch dropped and then no gas was applied after for 1 to 2 second)

What are the WRX or base N/A 2.5 of that gen like for reliability? I've been considering one but it needs to be able to survive being driven hard without blowing up every 5 minutes like an STi.

I see the value in the Cayman S as well. Would make a great track and weekend car.
It still remains a narrow market for a track modified car. To echo what Underscore said I would remove the sticker, roll bar and then put the stock wheels on for pictures. The CCW wheels can be offered for extra money or sold separately.

No pictures and some minor issues. But depending on how the car looks, it has the potential to be a good deal.
