I was hoping they'd go back since they were recording 3 seconds a lap faster at Virginia.
So the GT-R with a gazillion computers controlling everything from front to rear and side to side torque split and shifting the dual clutch tranny, all wheel drive, 4 valves per cylinder with fully variable cam timing and all the rest of the "superior Japanese" engineering gets whipped by an American 2 valve per cylinder, OHV V8 engine in a RWD car with a plain old manual transmission. Who's your daddy, bitch? Sadly, this will do absolutely nothing to curb all the stupid GT-R is faster bullshit. Just waiting for all the lame ass excuses to come. Posted via RS Mobile |

GT-R is a computer, Zr1 is a real mans car.

While I respect ZR1 for being a real man's car, GTR is absolutely still a fast car considering the fact that it has more weight and less hp. It's a different class as well considering it fits 4 ppl, can be a comfortable cruiser, and be useful during winter unlike ZR1 which is not exactly a car you'd want to daily. I honestly don't see any reason owning ZR1 over GTR unless you are an avid tracker. You'd probably be using 5% of what ZR1 is capable of on the street, and come on, how many of those ZR1 owners really got the skills to maximize the potential of the car? |

1. Given two average drivers behind the wheel who do you think will go faster?
2. Who do you think will be faster given an endurance type race? 3. Is the zr1 much cheaper than the gtr without all the electronics? What then are you paying for? Quote:

Ah, the predictable response of the fanboy. Come up with some ridiculous parameters to try and change the rules of the contest, which is Who's Faster. Now it becomes "which is easier to drive", "which car can carry 4 people", "which has the nicer interior" or even something as stupid as "who will win an endurance race".
Seriously? An "endurance type race"? That's the best comeback you can come up with? I know when I'm shopping for a sports car the top two items on my list are "is it easy to drive" and "will it run good in an endurance race". BTW, have you even followed the GT-R in any racing series? Not those Best Motoring rigged races, I mean actual sanctioned races. It doesn't do well at all, getting its ass handed to it by Corvettes, Vipers, 911's and even the Cadillac CTS-V. If you don't believe me, head on over to www.world-challenge.com or www.gt1world.com where there are results of the various races they've run in. Bottom line: the car isn't competitive at all. Just because you can run a fast lap at Nurburgring doesn't mean the car is actually a good base for a race car, as several teams are finding out. Cuz, you know, race series have rules that everyone must adhere to, so Nissan can't send a juiced up car like they can when they run Nurburgring. All of which makes your endurance comment all the more entertaining. |

Before anybody mentions how the GTR's aren't doing too bad in GT1, go google what they're running for thier drivetrain.
How much of it is still a GTR? Faaaail. V8+ RWD. The only GTR thing about those cars are maybe the badges. |

Lol, I have never even said GTR drivers are skillful, but given the same average joe driver, he can do well better in GTR and can probably enjoy more pushing its limit than driving a ZR1. |

The GT-R is amazing for what it can do with its weight and power. The stock car is extremely fast for a couple laps but in an endurance race there is no getting around the fact that it is running with 3800lb. Even in those (some claim biased) Best Motoring 5 Laps Battle in Tsukuba, the GT-R's is obviously slowing down near the 4th and 5th lap.
Go watch the battle between the 07 GT-R and old Gallardo Superleggera to see what I mean. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W6JcSzFqO8[/ame] The GT-R is a car that pushes the envelope of technology while the Corvette is a car that pushes the boundary of classic mechanical engineering theory if that makes any sense. GT-R vs Corvette, it appears even by today's technological standards, there is no defying the laws of physics (Weight, power etc.) As much as many don't like the 4WD+Double clutch trickery, I think the GT-R designer is on to something though. (Perfect torqueband, efficient power delivery, superb traction) It'll be interesting to see other sports car maker take note of this and improve upon the GT-R. ![]() :I am a big GTR fan, but there is no denyin its just a heavy car, no amount of brake/traction is going to help the power:weight ratio in that department we can clearly see how even the likes of 599GTB falls short on the ZR1, huge power, light weight.. still seem to dominate over technological trickery? xD

Back in 2008, Chevy whipped the Corvette ZR1 around the Nurburgring in an impressive 7:26.4 seconds. Impressive, yes, but the Nissan GT-R was tweaked for 2012 and set a time more than two seconds faster.
And now the 2012 Chevy Corvette, wearing super-sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, has accepted the challenge and shaved SIX seconds off of that 7:26.4 run. Wonder what times will the GTR be if they run with the same cup tires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Z4tueh_pefg

So are you trying to imply the tires are the only reason why it's faster? Never mind the changes to the suspension, the new wheels that are 5lbs lighter, the new aerodynamics and rear spoiler, different transmission gear ratios and modified traction control system.

I think he's trying to say that the Corvette cheated by using half-decent tires. |
