need some router help
wasn't sure where to post this.. couldn't find a router thread lol
anyways when my router is connected to my comp my download speed is around 14 mbps - comp games don't lag whatsoever
when i connect it to my ps3 on wired connection
its around 2-3 mbps download - lags i can barely play and get dropped alot
when i try wireless on my ps3
its 700-900 kbps download - lags like a mofo.. can't even play games
when i directly connect my ps3 to my modem it's normal speed 14mbps download - perfect to play online with, doesn't lag one bit
i contacted d-link, tried everything the guy told me to do
nothing worked then he straight up told me that i tried everything that i could and that i can return the router for a full refund if i please
has anyone else ever encountered this problem? i'm just looking to play with wired connection through my router to my ps3 without having it to lag.. anyone have any ideas i could try?

is the port open for gaming on the router?
go into router settings and manually set the mac address of the ps3 to allow full privileges

Get rid of the d-link router all together as a factor.
Plug it directly into your modem and get a DHCP address from your ISP. You may have to restart your modem if you're on shaw for the modem to notice the new mac address. Telus, i dunno, haven't been with them for at least a decade.
At least at this point you can determine if the router is the cause of the problems or not.

It is probably a router problem. Before getting a new router contact your ISP and ask them if they can suggest anything. Personally whenever my internet is slow, I reset my box completely by pushing the small button on the bottom of the router. This resets the router back to factory settings which can speed up your internet.

He already did that as mentioned in his post.. ..
I suggest trying to put the ps3 ip address into the dmz that way everything on the router will be bypassed. Might be some qos setting that's affecting it. Dmz bypasses everything and makes it work like your ps3 is connected directly to the modem.

Did you try changing the channel on the router?

So i need some router help too
i just got an Asus RT-N56U
i hooked it up everything was working fine my speeds were great
but once i finished downloading a movie suddenly my internet has been slow to a crawl literally....
i dunno whats wrong? its just as slow on my wired connection
I've tried bypassing the router and just straight shaw->computer the connection is fine
i had the router set to wpa2 encryption i didnt think this would be a problem but i switched it to wpa problem persists
i turned off the routers firewall problem still persists
i tried rebooting the router a few times problem still persists
edit: well i "fixed" it i reset the router.. but what if it happens again? -_- my settings are no different now than they were but at least things are working right for now...

See if there's new firmware?
Routers are buggy... problems like this where you need to reboot it once in awhile is not uncommon.

You can also save/export the current settings for future use if you ever need to do a reset on it.
